Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and local police killed three suspected members of the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan’s Tipu Gul faction during an intelligence-based raid in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 5 July. Officials said the joint team engaged the militants near the Bhittani Canal in the Harama Talla area, with a firefight lasting about 25 minutes. Weapons and ammunition were seized at the scene. The dead were identified as Wasim Ullah, also known as Umar Khattab, Qudrat Ullah alias Abu Bakr and Hijrat Ullah alias Hijrat. Authorities accuse the trio of involvement in multiple attacks on law-enforcement personnel, including the killings of CTD officer Waheed Ullah and two traffic constables, as well as improvised-explosive-device attacks.
