A high-speed passenger train ploughed into a delivery van that became trapped on a level crossing in Wola Filipowska, a village outside Krakow, on 6 August, tearing the vehicle in two but leaving the driver and all train passengers unharmed, according to Malopolska Police. CCTV footage released by the regional force shows the van entering the crossing while warning lights flashed red and the barriers were descending. With no room to reverse, the driver tried to edge forward but was struck at full speed, sending debris into a roadside ditch. Police said the video was published to underline the importance of obeying signals at level crossings, noting that the absence of injuries was “miraculous” given the extent of the damage to the van.
