On July 11, 2025, a tractor trailer cab crashed through a guardrail on the Delaware Memorial Bridge and plunged approximately 175 feet into the Delaware River in New Castle County, Delaware. Rescue crews responded promptly, initiating search and recovery operations for the missing driver. Video evidence confirmed the cab fell into the water, and divers were deployed to locate the vehicle and driver. The cab was eventually recovered from the river, but the driver remained missing for several days. Recovery efforts were temporarily suspended on the day of the incident with the driver presumed dead. On July 12, crews resumed search operations and later recovered the body of the truck driver. Authorities have not disclosed the cause of the crash.
