President Donald Trump’s disapproval rating has reached 55%, the highest level of his second term, according to an Economist/YouGov survey conducted July 13–15 among 1,680 U.S. adults. The figure is up from 53% a week earlier and from 43% recorded at his January 2025 inauguration. Overall approval slipped to 41%. The poll shows the president’s standing deteriorating mainly among independents and swing voters, while support inside his party remains firm: 92% of self-identified Republicans said they approve of his job performance, virtually unchanged from the start of the term. A separate CNN survey released the same week found that only 21% of respondents “approve strongly” of Trump’s performance, the lowest level recorded in either of his two terms, underscoring the depth of erosion in enthusiastic backing even as partisan lines hold on overall approval.
