U.S. President Donald Trump has added a fragrance line to his expanding portfolio of branded merchandise, announcing on 30 June that the limited-edition cologne and perfume, named “Victory 45-47,” are available for purchase at $249 a bottle. The 100-millilitre scents, marketed as symbolising “Winning, Strength and Success,” are packaged in black (men) and red (women) boxes and housed in gold-coloured bottles topped with a miniature statue of the president. A previously launched range, “Fight, Fight, Fight,” remains on sale for $199. The release has reignited criticism over Trump’s use of the presidential platform for personal gain. Senators Mark Warner and Peter Welch accused the Republican leader of profiting from his office while congressional Republicans push a budget plan that would scale back Medicare and other benefits. The White House declined to address the complaints. The fragrances follow other Trump-branded ventures rolled out during his second term, including a $499 smartphone and a self-branded mobile service, deepening questions about potential conflicts between the president’s public duties and private earnings.
Trump is probably one of the most accomplished at the core skills of most politicians and used car sales persons. I expect him to soon start offering to sell us more extended warranties?
