Internal Apple code that was briefly published online indicates the company plans to equip an upcoming revision of its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset with a new M5 processor, contradicting earlier reports that suggested the device would be limited to the still-unannounced M4. The current Vision Pro, introduced in 2024, runs on an M2, so the jump would give the headset two generations of additional silicon headroom. The same cache of code points to broader chip upgrades across Apple’s hardware roadmap. A next-generation iPad mini, codenamed J510/J511, is listed as running the A19 Pro system-on-a-chip, the processor also expected to power this autumn’s iPhone 17 Pro models. Apple’s entry-level iPad is referenced with an A18 chip, while a long-rumoured budget MacBook is shown using the same A18 silicon and is expected to start at about $599, according to earlier supply-chain reports. Apple has not commented on the apparent leak or provided a timetable for the updated products. Industry analysts expect the M5 to be unveiled as soon as October, suggesting hardware announcements could follow in late 2025 or early 2026.
The expected spec bump for Apple Vision Pro has been seemingly confirmed by leaked Apple code, suggesting it will be the M5, not M4, launching soon. #Apple #AppleVisionPro https://t.co/hO2vXd5qVl
