Estonia’s Harju County Court has sentenced two Moldovan citizens for their involvement in an arson attack on the Slava Ukraini restaurant in Tallinn. The court found that the attack, which occurred on January 31, 2025, was ordered by Russia’s military intelligence agency, the GRU. The two men, including Ivan Chihaial born in 1992, were recruited by Russian special services to carry out the operation. In addition to the restaurant, the men were also responsible for setting fire to a supermarket in Estonia the previous year. The sentences handed down were six and a half years and two and a half years in prison, respectively.
