A pendulum-style attraction at Green Mountain Park in Taif, south-western Saudi Arabia, snapped in mid-air late on 30 July, sending its passenger platform crashing to the ground and injuring 23 people. Emergency services said three of the victims remain in critical condition, while the others were treated on site or transferred to nearby hospitals. The ride, known as “360 Degrees,” was carrying about 30 passengers when the central arm split in two, according to videos circulated by local media. Civil Defense teams cordoned off the area and evacuated the park as first responders worked to free those still strapped into their seats. Taif Governor Prince Saud bin Nahar ordered the immediate closure of the park and launched an investigation to determine whether maintenance lapses or safety-protocol failures caused the collapse. Authorities said the probe will examine operator records and mechanical components before deciding on possible legal or regulatory action.
