WeRide, an autonomous driving technology company, has secured Saudi Arabia's first-ever Robotaxi autonomous driving permit, making it the only tech firm with such permits in six countries, including the U.S., China, UAE, Singapore, and France. The company has launched a pilot Robotaxi program in Riyadh in partnership with Uber and local partner Ai Driver, with plans for a full commercial launch by the end of 2025. In its latest financial results for the second quarter, WeRide reported a 61% increase in revenue to $17.8 million, driven by an 837% year-over-year surge in Robotaxi revenue, which reached $6.4 million, its highest to date. The company also expanded its fleet threefold in Abu Dhabi and extended operations into Saudi Arabia and Shanghai. Gross margin for the quarter was 28%.
