Sweden began their UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 campaign with a 1–0 victory over Denmark at the Stade de Genève, securing three points in the opening fixture of Group C. Real Madrid midfielder Filippa Angeldahl settled the Scandinavian derby in the 55th minute, exchanging passes with Kosovare Asllani before driving a low shot beyond Danish goalkeeper Lene Christensen. The Swedes, guided by coach Peter Gerhardsson, created several further chances but were nearly pegged back when Denmark’s captain Pernille Harder struck the crossbar late on. The result places Sweden top of a section that also includes Germany and Poland, giving the 2023 World Cup semi-finalists an early advantage in the race for the quarter-finals.
