Newcastle are expected to return with an improved proposal after making the striker a priority signing. In a separate move, Ligue 1 side Racing Club de Strasbourg has completed the permanent signing of Argentine left-back Valentín Barco after activating a €10 million purchase clause. The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan from Brighton, has signed a contract running until 2029. Brighton are also exploring attacking reinforcements. The Premier League club has joined AS Roma in tracking OGC Nice striker Evann Guessand, while Turkish champions Fenerbahçe are preparing a €25 million bid for the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international.
