Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Belgian left-back Maxim De Cuyper from Club Brugge on a five-year contract worth about €20 million (£17 million), the Premier League club announced Saturday. The 24-year-old is Brighton’s sixth acquisition of the summer window. De Cuyper made 54 appearances for Brugge last season, scoring four goals and providing seven assists while helping the side reach the Champions League round of 16. Capped 16 times by Belgium since his 2024 debut, he brings European and domestic title-winning experience to manager Fabian Hürzeler’s squad. The move strengthens Brighton’s options on the left flank as Ecuador international Pervis Estupiñán has indicated he is open to leaving the Amex Stadium. Brighton, who finished eighth in the Premier League, have already overhauled their roster by selling forward João Pedro to Chelsea for about £60 million and adding striker Charalampos Kostoulas, winger Tom Watson and centre-back Diego Coppola.
