Lille OSC secured its first win of the Ligue 1 season by edging AS Monaco 1–0 at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, courtesy of a 91st-minute strike from Olivier Giroud. The veteran forward latched onto a cross in stoppage time to beat goalkeeper Philipp Köhn and settle a largely cagey encounter on the second matchday. The goal was Giroud’s 300th in professional football and his second in as many league appearances since joining Lille this summer. Moments after the breakthrough, the 38-year-old had a chance to double the lead from the penalty spot but fired over the bar. The result lifts Lille to four points, level with Monaco, while Olympique Lyonnais tops the early table with two wins from two. Toulouse, Paris Saint-Germain and Strasbourg also maintain perfect starts after the opening two rounds.
