Leeds United have completed a rapid defensive rebuild, announcing the arrivals of Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Gabriel Gudmundsson in the space of 16 days. Slovenia centre-back Bijol joins from Udinese for about €22 million on a five-year deal, while Belgian defender Bornauw arrives from Wolfsburg for £5.1 million and Sweden left-back Gudmundsson leaves Lille for roughly €12 million, both on four-year contracts. The trio add international pedigree as Leeds prepare for their first Premier League campaign since winning the Championship title in May. Bijol, 26, has earned 63 caps and starred for Slovenia at Euro 2024; Gudmundsson, also 26, made 137 appearances across four seasons in Ligue 1; and Bornauw, 26, brings Bundesliga experience. The three signings follow the free-transfer capture of striker Lukas Nmecha as the Yorkshire club seeks to consolidate its top-flight return.
