U.S. rapper and entrepreneur Snoop Dogg has taken an undisclosed co-ownership stake in Swansea City A.F.C., the Welsh football club said on 18 July. The 53-year-old becomes the latest high-profile investor in the side, which plays in England’s second-tier Championship. Snoop Dogg joins an ownership group led by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, who assumed control last November, and former Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, who bought into the club in April. Swansea said the rapper’s global following—more than 100 million across social media—could broaden the team’s commercial reach and generate revenue needed to strengthen the squad under English Football League profit-and-sustainability rules. Swansea has been seeking a return to the Premier League since its relegation in 2018. The deal underscores a growing wave of celebrity investments in Welsh football, following the widely publicised takeover of Wrexham A.F.C. by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
