Tottenham Hotspur struck first in the 2025 UEFA Super Cup, taking a 1–0 lead over Paris Saint-Germain at the Stadio Friuli in Udine. Centre-back Micky van de Ven followed up a close-range save from PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier to score in the 39th minute, his fourth goal since joining Spurs in 2023. The goal came against the run of play: L’Équipe reported PSG had completed more than 200 passes to Tottenham’s 75 before the breakthrough. Despite Paris pushing through Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi, Tottenham’s defence and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario held firm through the opening 45 minutes. Play was ongoing at halftime with Spurs leading 1–0 as they seek their first Super Cup title, while PSG aim to add the trophy to last season’s Champions League triumph.
