Adobe on 29 July unveiled a fresh round of generative-AI features for Photoshop, extending the software’s Firefly-based capabilities across desktop, web and, in early access, the iOS mobile app. The update, now in public beta, is meant to accelerate routine editing tasks and lower the skill barrier for complex compositing work. The headline addition is “Harmonize,” a tool that automatically blends newly inserted objects into a scene by matching lighting, colour and shadows—technology that builds on last year’s Project Perfect Blend prototype. A separate Generative Upscale feature can boost image resolution to 8 megapixels without what Adobe says is appreciable loss of detail, aiding restoration of older photos and preparation of assets for print or social media. Adobe has also re-engineered Photoshop’s Remove tool to erase unwanted elements with fewer visible artefacts and introduced a Projects workspace for asset organisation and collaboration. Users can now select among different Firefly models via a new picker to fine-tune stylistic output. Adobe did not disclose a timetable for general availability but said the beta tools will roll out gradually to subscribers.
