Google has begun rolling out a new feature that allows Android users to edit text messages sent to iPhones via the Rich Communication Services (RCS) protocol. This capability marks a notable development in cross-platform messaging, as it enables message editing from Android devices in conversations with iPhone users. However, the feature currently only works one way; iPhone users cannot edit messages sent to Android devices. The update is facilitated by a recent enhancement to the RCS standard, which is only partially supported on iOS at this time. Alongside this, the RCS protocol is receiving further improvements with the latest Universal Profile 3.1 update, which promises better voice message quality, increased reliability, easier setup, and stronger file protection.
