Google Launches SynthID Open-Source AI Watermarking, Prepares for Gemini 2.0 Release, and Generates 25% New Code
Google has introduced its SynthID watermarking technology, designed to enhance transparency in AI-generated content. This new feature is now available as an open-source tool through the Google Responsible Generative AI Toolkit, allowing developers and businesses to integrate it into their applications. The SynthID technology provides an invisible watermark that can be applied to text, images, and audio, enabling easier detection of AI-generated materials. Google DeepMind has reportedly been utilizing this watermarking method in its Gemini chatbot responses for several months. Additionally, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has confirmed that the new Gemini AI model is set to be released soon, with expectations for Gemini 2.0 in December. The company is currently generating approximately 25% of its new code using AI, specifically relying on the capabilities of the Gemini model.
