Meta Platforms on Tuesday began a global rollout of an AI-powered voice-translation tool for short-form videos on Facebook and Instagram, expanding a pilot first shown at the company’s Connect developer conference last year. The feature, branded Meta AI Translations, automatically dubs a creator’s reels in the user’s own voice and can align the audio with lip movements for a more natural appearance. It launches with support for English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English translations; additional languages are planned. The service is available in every market where Meta AI is offered. Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers and all public Instagram accounts can enable the tool before publishing a reel, preview or disable the translation, and track a new “views by language” metric in Insights. Meta said the release is part of a broader refocus of its artificial-intelligence division, which is being reorganised around research, superintelligence, products and infrastructure.
