OpenAI has started a global rollout of Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Contacts “Connectors” for ChatGPT Pro subscribers, letting the chatbot pull information from a user’s inbox, meetings and address book directly into a conversation. The feature, delivered through the new GPT-5-based Connectors framework, builds on earlier links to Dropbox and Microsoft Teams and is designed to streamline routine research and scheduling tasks by eliminating the need to switch between apps. According to an updated support document, Pro customers will gain access this week, while ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise and Education tiers will receive the integration in the coming weeks. Users can activate the services from the Connectors panel in settings; accounts that already granted ChatGPT deep-research permission for Gmail or Calendar will see the tools enabled automatically. Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman said OpenAI is prioritising paying customers as demand for GPT-5 rises, adding that the company expects to double its compute capacity within five months and can accommodate roughly 30 percent additional API growth under current commitments. The broader GPT-5 push is rippling through the software ecosystem. Microsoft, OpenAI’s largest backer, began introducing GPT-5 inside Visual Studio via GitHub Copilot, promising “substantial” gains in code generation and reasoning. The parallel releases underscore how both companies are moving quickly to embed the latest model into productivity and developer tools.
