Errejón Seeks €10,000 and Retraction From Actress Mouliaá in Defamation Fight

Former Sumar spokesman Íñigo Errejón has initiated an act of conciliation in a Madrid court—the mandatory step before filing a criminal complaint—against actress and presenter Elisa Mouliaá for alleged calumny. In the filing dated 17 July, Errejón demands that Mouliaá withdraw social-media posts accusing him of extorting two witnesses in the ongoing sexual-assault investigation against him, issue a public retraction and pay €10,000 in compensation for reputational damage. Errejón’s lawyers argue the extortion claim is “manifestly false”, noting that both witnesses—owners of the apartment where the alleged assault took place—told Court No. 47 on 20 June that they contacted Errejón of their own accord and were not pressured. The defence says the actress’s repeated posts constitute criminal defamation because they attribute to Errejón a serious offence carrying potential penalties of up to five years in prison. Mouliaá has rejected the demand, writing on X that she will not retract and that Errejón should instead compensate her for the “calvario” she claims to be suffering. Her lawyer told the EFE news agency that she will attend the conciliation hearing and present a video in which one witness purportedly discusses strategy with the former politician, evidence she says supports her allegations. The defamation dispute unfolds alongside the broader case stemming from Mouliaá’s complaint that Errejón sexually assaulted her during a party on 8 October 2021. The allegation, which became public in 2024 and prompted Errejón to leave politics, remains under investigation. No date has been set for the conciliation session; if no agreement is reached, Errejón has indicated he will proceed with a criminal lawsuit for calumny and injuria.
