The Central Operative Unit (UCO) has requested the Spanish Supreme Court to investigate the donations made by former minister José Luis Ábalos to the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE). The inquiry arises due to discrepancies between the amounts reported by the tax authorities, which total 44,729 euros, and the figures reflected in Ábalos's bank accounts. The Supreme Court has asked both the PSOE and the Congress of Deputies to provide detailed information on payments and donations related to Ábalos. The Congress reported that between 2014 and 2024, it paid Ábalos over 750,000 euros in salaries and allowances, including expenses such as travel and daily allowances, with some payments made through PSOE accounts and others through Ábalos's personal accounts. However, the Congress was unable to verify the ownership of the bank account where Ábalos received these payments. The PSOE explained that some donations from Ábalos were received via the parliamentary group. The investigation is part of a broader inquiry known as the Koldo case, with the UCO submitting a 490-page report to the court.
