Israeli forces have conducted multiple incursions into southern Syria, particularly in the Quneitra and Daraa governorates, as well as near Damascus. Since mid-June 2025, Israeli military units, supported by tanks and armored vehicles, have advanced into villages such as Rasm al-Khawalid, Mas'hara, Jibata al-Khashab, and areas surrounding the al-Mantara Dam in Quneitra. These operations include patrols, road closures, and the establishment of military positions. On July 1, Syrian journalist Abdullah Hassan, also known as Nour Golan, who was reporting on these incursions in Quneitra, was detained by local security forces for undisclosed reasons unrelated to his journalistic work and was subsequently released the same day. Additionally, on July 2, a special Israeli military unit raided the al-Basali farm south of Quneitra at around 2 a.m., detaining three civilians—Amer Ahmad, Malik Ahmad, and Salem Ahmad—before withdrawing toward the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights; these detainees were later released. On July 4, Israeli special forces conducted an airborne operation near Yaafour, approximately 10 kilometers south of Damascus, landing via three helicopters at a former Syrian National Guard facility. The forces conducted a search operation lasting around five hours before departing. Concurrently, Israeli ground forces carried out incursions in the Yarmouk Basin area of Daraa province near the Lebanese border. These coordinated operations mark a notable escalation of Israeli military activity within Syrian territory.
