Israeli military operations in Lebanon and southern Syria have resulted in multiple fatalities among Palestinian and Hezbollah officials. An Israeli airstrike on August 7 near the Syrian border killed Mohammed Wishah, a member of the central committee of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), along with his bodyguard. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) later confirmed targeting and eliminating PFLP members Abu Khalil Wishah and Mufid Hassan in Syria. Additionally, the IDF struck and killed a Hezbollah intelligence operative in Aynata, southern Lebanon, who was reportedly gathering intelligence on Israeli troops, an action described by the IDF as a violation of understandings between Israel and Lebanon. Concurrently, Israeli forces have advanced into several villages in the Quneitra countryside of southern Syria, including movements toward Ruwaihinah and Rasm al-Halabi. The Israeli military also reported striking a vehicle equipped with a machine gun in southern Syria. Amid these operations, Israel has called for the demilitarization of southern Syria, warning the Damascus government against deploying heavy weaponry in the region. The series of attacks and incursions has heightened tensions in the area, with the Israeli army also reporting the death of one of its soldiers in the southern sector.
