Türkiye said it "welcomes the strong will" shown by the United States in lifting another significant portion of economic sanctions on Syria, calling the step an important sign of Washington’s intent to normalise relations with Damascus. The statement was delivered on Tuesday by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oncu Keceli. According to the ministry, the decision, authorised by U.S. President Donald Trump, removes a further tranche of restrictions that had been imposed during Syria’s civil conflict. While the White House has not yet published full details of the measures being rescinded, Ankara characterised the move as a positive development for regional stability. Keceli added that Türkiye will continue to support Syria’s reconstruction through both public- and private-sector projects, working with international partners to help revive the war-damaged economy.
