Maingear launches its Retro95 beige desktop, hoping to tempt in fans of retro PCs who, despite themselves, crave modern processing power. https://t.co/Zstq1gSFIx
Custom PC builder Maingear has introduced the Retro95, a limited-edition desktop that wraps high-end 2025 components in a beige chassis reminiscent of 1990s Windows 95-era computers. Built around a customized SilverStone FLP01 horizontal case, the system features concealed front I/O ports behind faux floppy drives and can be fitted with an optional DVD drive to complete the period look. Buyers can specify hardware up to AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card, 96GB of DDR5 memory and 8TB of PCIe Gen4 NVMe storage. Airflow is handled by Noctua fans, and power delivery tops out at an 850-watt supply. The prebuilt PCs start at $1,599 and are available exclusively through Maingear’s website beginning 23 July; the company says the drop will not be restocked once it sells out.
