User reports of service problems climbed from 8,249 at 10:56 a.m. Eastern Time to 16,497 three minutes later on Aug. 14. Downdetector aggregates user-submitted complaints to gauge service disruptions across websites and apps. X, owned by Elon Musk, had not immediately issued a statement on the cause or expected duration of the interruption.
