Abdurrahman Tutdere, the Mayor of Adıyaman, was taken into police custody on July 5, 2025. Following his detention, law enforcement officers conducted a search of the Adıyaman Municipality building. The arrest prompted residents to gather and protest outside the municipality building, expressing their dissatisfaction amid ongoing hardships caused by a recent earthquake. Tutdere, affiliated with the Republican People's Party (CHP), issued a statement asserting that he has consistently fought against injustice and unlawfulness throughout his political career. In addition to Tutdere, mayors from Adana, Antalya, and Manavgat, also members of CHP, were detained in coordinated operations earlier that day. These arrests sparked protests in Antalya, where citizens assembled in front of the CHP provincial headquarters to demonstrate against the detentions.
