The Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has requested the arrest of Muhittin Böcek, the mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and a member of the Republican People's Party (CHP), in connection with an ongoing bribery investigation. Böcek was taken into custody and subsequently detained. The investigation revealed that Böcek's son, Mustafa Gökhan Böcek, arranged for a 30 million Turkish lira duplex apartment to be purchased through businessman Yusuf Y. for his estranged wife, Zeynep Kerimoğlu, during their divorce proceedings. In his statement to prosecutors, Muhittin Böcek referred to the property acquisition as a "debt". The case has attracted attention, with support expressed by the mayor of Nuremberg. Additionally, BirGün newspaper writer Timur Soykan, who has commented on the matter, was summoned for questioning by the prosecutor's office and has completed his statement, asserting that the operations related to the tweets are influenced by political directives within the judiciary.
