Turkey commemorated the 99th anniversary of Denizcilik ve Kabotaj Bayramı (Maritime and Cabotage Day) on July 1, 2025, marking the country's maritime independence and sovereignty. The celebration highlighted Turkey's commitment to strengthening its maritime presence and security through advanced domestic technologies, with various defense and aerospace companies expressing support. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid tribute to those who have contributed to the development and empowerment of Turkish maritime capabilities over the centuries, emphasizing the importance of protecting national interests at sea. The festivities included a notable participation of the TCG Oruçreis seismic research vessel in the Istanbul Strait. Following the celebrations, the Oruç Reis completed its first intercontinental mission off Somalia and returned to Turkey, passing through the Çanakkale Strait, symbolizing Turkey's ongoing maritime operational capabilities and strategic reach within the Mavi Vatan (Blue Homeland) doctrine.
