#Turkish Intelligence Chief İbrahim Kalin has arrived in #Erbil and is expected to hold meetings with President Barzani and other senior officials of the #Kurdistan Region.
Türkiye’s intelligence chief, İbrahim Kalın, travelled to Erbil on Tuesday for a round of high-level talks with Kurdistan Regional Government leaders, including KDP head Masoud Barzani, KRG President Nechirvan Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. The delegation also met Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, Interior Minister Reber Ahmed and senior security-council officials. Discussions centred on Ankara’s “Terror-Free Türkiye” initiative and anticipated steps toward removing terrorist groups from northern Iraq. Turkish and Kurdish officials reviewed reports that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) could begin laying down arms in the coming days, a move that would mark the first formal disarmament of the group inside Iraq. Kalın and his counterparts also addressed the security and political representation of Iraq’s Turkmen community and agreed to maintain intensified coordination with both the KRG and Baghdad in the months ahead.
