Netflix has unveiled its global release calendar for August, led by the long-anticipated return of “Wednesday.” The Addams Family spin-off, whose first season became one of the service’s most-watched titles in 2022, comes back on 6 August with a four-episode Volume 1 that the company says will lean further into horror elements while retaining its teenage-mystery tone. New original films open the month. On 1 August the streamer premieres the campus romance “My Oxford Year,” followed by the Argentine prison drama “In the Mud,” a spin-off of hit series “El Marginal,” on 14 August. Political thriller “Hostage,” starring the U.K.’s Suranne Jones and France’s Julie Delpy, arrives a week later on 21 August. Netflix closes the month with higher-profile literary adaptations: Chris Columbus’s take on Richard Osman’s bestseller “The Thursday Murder Club” bows on 28 August, and Spanish revenge story “Two Graves” lands on 29 August. Catalogue additions begin 1 August with the original “Jurassic Park” trilogy, “Clueless,” “The Departed” and more, underscoring the platform’s strategy of pairing new exclusives with recognisable library draws to bolster summer engagement.
