United Airlines has struck a content deal with Apple Inc. that allows passengers to stream full seasons of Apple TV+ originals at no charge on the carrier’s in-flight entertainment system and mobile app. Effective immediately, travellers can watch the first seasons of “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “Slow Horses,” “Shrinking” and “Silo” on the airline’s roughly 130,000 seat-back screens or via Wi-Fi on personal devices. The partnership will expand next month with the addition of “The Morning Show” and “Bad Sisters,” and the companies plan to refresh the catalogue monthly, eventually offering more than 250 episodes, films and documentaries. The agreement complements United’s broader push to upgrade its cabins with larger 27-inch 4K OLED displays and faster connectivity as part of the carrier’s United Next plan, while giving Apple TV+ exposure to potential new subscribers.
