Matchroom Boxing has signed former mixed-martial-arts star Molly “Meatball” McCann, bringing the 35-year-old Briton back to her boxing roots less than four months after she retired from the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Promoter Eddie Hearn disclosed the agreement on 3 July during a press conference for the Jack Catterall–Harlem Eubank card in Manchester. Hearn said the Liverpool native, a former ABA amateur boxer, will have six to seven bouts over the next year with the aim of positioning her for a world-title opportunity in late 2026. McCann ended her UFC tenure in March after a submission defeat to Alexia Thainara in London, leaving the promotion with a 7-7 record from 14 fights. Before joining the UFC in 2018, she captured the Cage Warriors flyweight belt and became the first British woman to fight and win in the UFC. Matchroom has yet to announce a date or opponent for her professional boxing debut.
