Poland’s foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski said the consular section of the Polish Embassy in Kyiv was damaged during Russia’s large-scale overnight bombardment of the Ukrainian capital on 4 July. Sikorski reported no injuries among diplomatic staff after speaking with Ambassador Bartosz Łukaszewicz but described the physical damage as significant. Ukrainian officials called the assault one of the heaviest to date, claiming Russia launched about 550 missiles and drones and that air-defence crews downed 478 of them. Debris nevertheless struck eight sites and fell in a further 33 locations across Kyiv, touching residential buildings, schools and medical facilities in addition to the Polish mission. Sikorski publicly appealed to US President Donald Trump to restore deliveries of anti-aircraft ammunition to Ukraine and to impose additional sanctions on Moscow, saying, “President Trump, Putin is mocking your peace efforts.” Warsaw has also lodged a formal protest with Moscow over the incident. Russia’s Defence Ministry said it employed long-range precision weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, against what it described as Ukrainian drone-production facilities, an oil refinery and military infrastructure, and asserted that all intended targets were hit. Ukraine has not commented on the Russian account.
