Ukraine has expanded domestic drone production to more than 200,000 units a month, a 900% increase from roughly 20,000 in mid-2024, according to industry publication Defense Express. The data, drawn from analysts at the Atlantic Council and Georgetown Security Studies Review, shows Kyiv’s unmanned-aircraft output accelerating far faster than in most Western defense sectors. The surge puts the country on track to manufacture about 2.4 million drones in 2025, a scale intended to meet battlefield demand and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers. Airlogix, one of several companies in the state-backed NAUDI association, said the ramp-up spans first-person-view and long-range systems that have become central to Ukraine’s war effort against Russia. Analysts warn that sustaining the pace will require longer-term contracts, clearer quality standards and greater investment in research and development. They also say stronger intellectual-property protections would help Ukrainian firms convert wartime gains into a lasting position in the global defense market.
