The US Department of Homeland Security says assaults on Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers have risen 830% from the same period a year ago, surpassing a 700% jump cited earlier in the week. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem called the trend “despicable,” blaming what she described as inflammatory public rhetoric and the online doxxing of agents for fueling the violence, which has included recent ambushes in Texas and threats against officers’ families. Former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan and other officials warned that the spike endangers federal personnel as they conduct immigration enforcement operations. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries declined to condemn remarks urging violence against ICE during a televised interview, drawing criticism from Republicans at a Homeland Security Committee hearing where tempers flared over the issue. Republican lawmakers led by House Small Business Committee Chair Roger Williams and Rep. Pat Fallon have asked Attorney General Pam Bondi to open an immediate investigation into “ICEblock,” a smartphone application that crowd-sources real-time locations of ICE activity. The legislators argue the app ‘paints targets’ on federal agents and may violate laws against obstructing justice and aiding fugitives. The Justice Department has not commented on the request. DHS says it is working with other federal agencies to identify and prosecute individuals who assault or dox ICE officers, while urging elected officials to moderate their language. Noem emphasized that despite the hostility, ICE removed thousands of suspected criminals in the first half of the year.
EXCLUSIVE: Not only is Joshua Aaron, the founder of the ICEBlock app married to a current DOJ employee named Carolyn Feinstein, but he is also a member of ANTIFA who has called for violent resistance against the Trump admin and ICE @ICEgov agents. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) says ICE officers are like “masked bank robbers.” He continues his assault on law enforcement, which is ironic considering his dad was a police chief in Algona, Iowa. Swalwell is shameless. He did boink a Chinese spy after all. https://t.co/mWnpp1dflp
Eric Swalwell is calling ICE patriots bank robbers. Attacks are up 800% because people like Fang Fang’s lover won’t stop running their mouths. https://t.co/kM98T1NE0J
