The Florida Highway Patrol has arrested Harjinder Singh on three counts of vehicular homicide after a semi-truck he was driving executed an illegal U-turn on Florida’s Turnpike near Fort Pierce, colliding with a minivan and killing all three occupants. The crash occurred earlier this week in an “official-use only” median crossover, according to investigators. State officials said Singh entered the United States unlawfully in 2018 after crossing the border from Mexico and later obtained a commercial driver’s license in California. Under the federal 287(g) program, troopers placed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer on Singh; the FLHSMV said he will be deported once state criminal proceedings conclude. The incident has intensified scrutiny of California’s policy of granting CDLs to undocumented immigrants and prompted calls from some Florida officials to reconsider recognition of out-of-state licenses. “Three people lost their lives as a result of his recklessness,” FLHSMV Executive Director Dave Kerner said, adding that the agency is coordinating with federal partners to ensure Singh “will no longer be able to endanger the lives of Floridians.”
The truck driver charged in the deaths of 3 motorists didn’t just make an illegal U-turn in FL —he illegally entered the US. @FLHSMV: Harjinder Singh unlawfully crossed in 2018 & later got a CDL in CA New video has elevated the story on social media https://t.co/pD3D8eIb4A

FL Highway Patrol’s investigation revealed that the driver was an illegal alien who crossed the border in Mexico, and was issued a CDL by @GavinNewsom in CA. CA should be sued into bankruptcy over this, and Newsom should be in prison. https://t.co/sB6Yw4vAEA
