President Donald Trump said the shuttered Homer City Power Plant in Pennsylvania will be redeveloped into what he called the largest natural gas–fired facility in North America. Trump said investment firm Knighthead Capital Management has committed $15 billion to the project, fulfilling a campaign pledge to rescue the site, which his administration blames on environmental rules implemented under President Joe Biden. Representative Guy Reschenthaler, whose district includes the plant, said the conversion is expected to create thousands of jobs and bolster southwestern Pennsylvania’s role in U.S. energy production.
