Georgia Republican Rep. Mike Collins said on 8 July that he is “seriously” considering entering the 2026 U.S. Senate race against Democratic incumbent Jon Ossoff, adding that he will consult with his family and former President Donald Trump before making a decision. Collins, a second-term congressman from Georgia’s 10th District, acknowledged that a Senate bid was not in his original plans but argued that Ossoff “must go,” citing policy differences and the GOP’s recent statewide gains. His interest comes as national Republicans seek a high-profile challenger in what they view as a prime pickup opportunity. If Collins moves forward, he would join a primary field that already includes Rep. Buddy Carter and state Insurance Commissioner John King. A Trafalgar Group poll conducted in April showed Collins leading Carter by 23 points among Republican voters yet trailing Ossoff by about five points in a general-election matchup. A separate Georgia GOP straw poll last month put Collins at 39% support to Carter’s 13%.

I don’t think any of these candidates can beat Ossoff. Name for me one scandal or gaffe he’s had in six years. Meanwhile MC shoots himself in the foot every month. GOP still has the edge in the governors race though. https://t.co/f7bJKRKlNE
