Newsmax Media said it will pay $67 million to Dominion Voting Systems, resolving the $1.6 billion defamation suit that accused the conservative cable network of broadcasting false claims that Dominion’s equipment helped rig the 2020 U.S. presidential election. The settlement was disclosed in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Monday and ends proceedings in Delaware Superior Court that had been overseen by Judge Eric Davis. Under the agreement, Newsmax made an initial $27 million payment on Aug. 15 and will remit $20 million on Jan. 15 next year and a final $20 million on Jan. 15, 2027. The deal eliminates the need for a jury trial on damages that had been expected later this year. Newsmax said it stood by its coverage as “fair and balanced” but decided to settle because it believed the Delaware court would not provide a fair trial. Dominion said it was pleased with the outcome. The pact contains no admission of wrongdoing and does not require an apology or on-air retraction. The accord follows Fox News’s $787.5 million payment to Dominion in 2023 and Newsmax’s $40 million settlement with voting-technology firm Smartmatic last year, underscoring the financial and legal risks media outlets face for amplifying unsubstantiated election-fraud allegations. Investors appeared unfazed; Newsmax shares gained about 5% to $12.75 in New York trading after the announcement.

This was appropriately marked "probable spam." What a moron. Fox News was forced to pay $787 million to Dominion in a defamation settlement because the crooked judge said he was going to instruct the jury to treat everything that Sidney Powell, Rudy Giuliani etc. said about https://t.co/e5g5UesbWN
