It’s all fun and games until they pull a late replacement and there’s only one Democrat on the Michigan ballot next year. Who will survive the wrath of the Girlboss Caucus?

Michigan Democrats raise millions to battle one another for open Senate seat https://t.co/6CWrZx8Lcn
Republican outside groups are amassing an early financial edge for the 2026 U.S. Senate contests. The Senate Leadership Fund and its non-profit affiliate One Nation said they collected a combined $85 million during the first six months of 2025, more than doubling their haul from the comparable period in 2023 and marking a record for an off-year. The two organizations report $83 million in cash on hand, with the SLF controlling $29 million, positioning them to defend and expand the GOP’s slim majority next cycle. Democrats, meanwhile, are gearing up for what is expected to be one of the most expensive intraparty fights of the cycle: the race for Michigan’s open seat now held by retiring Senator Gary Peters. State Senate Majority Whip Mallory McMorrow led second-quarter fundraising with $2.1 million, edging former Detroit health director Abdul El-Sayed’s $1.8 million. Representative Haley Stevens raised $1.3 million and moved another $1.2 million from her House campaign account, giving her the largest war chest but the smallest influx of new donations.
