A new internal survey by the Democratic super PAC Unite the Country shows the Democratic Party’s standing with voters has deteriorated further since the 2024 election, complicating the party’s effort to regain ground before the 2026 midterms and the 2028 presidential race. The poll, conducted across 21 battleground counties in ten competitive states, found that voters most frequently describe Democrats as “out of touch,” “woke” and “weak.” Support has slipped below 35% among white men, Hispanic men and working-class voters—groups that party strategists consider critical to any national coalition. Rodell Mollineau, a senior adviser at Unite the Country, said the findings underscore the need for Democrats to “meet voters where they are” on core economic concerns such as health-care costs, schools and housing, rather than leading with issues that resonate mainly with the party’s activist base. The bleak numbers echo recent national surveys: a Marquette Law School poll in May reported 63% of Americans hold an unfavorable view of the party; an Economist/YouGov poll put Democratic disapproval at 58.3% later that month; and an NBC News survey in mid-June found 57% of voters viewed the party unfavorably. Together, the data highlight the scale of the task facing Democratic leaders as they attempt to rebuild credibility with swing and working-class constituencies.

We have so much work to do. It's time to do more than talk. Democrats need to be the party of solutions. "Voters perceived the Democratic Party as “out of touch,” “woke” and “weak.” https://t.co/vnU4HUdzNZ
