Trump nominates Tammy Bruce as next Deputy Representative of US to UN
U.S. President Donald Trump on Aug. 9 nominated State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce to become Deputy Representative of the United States to the United Nations, a role that carries the rank of ambassador. Bruce, a television commentator and bestselling author, joined the State Department earlier this year after a career in broadcasting and political advocacy. Her nomination is subject to Senate confirmation. The deputy envoy is the second-highest post at the U.S. Mission to the UN. If confirmed, Bruce would serve under Mike Waltz, the former national security adviser whom Trump previously picked to be the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
