FBI agents told to flag any mention of Trump in Epstein records, Sen. Durbin says — Letter
Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Dick Durbin asked Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino to explain why FBI agents reviewing government records tied to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein were allegedly instructed to “flag” any document that mentioned President Donald Trump. In letters dated Friday, the Illinois Democrat said unnamed sources told his staff the directive was part of what he called a “haphazard” review carried out in March. Durbin wants the officials to detail what was done with the flagged materials, provide any logs of those records and clarify whether they have personally examined the full cache of Epstein documents. He also questioned why a Justice Department memo last week said no further Epstein files would be released, contradicting earlier statements by Bondi that a ‘client list’ would be made public. The Justice Department confirmed receiving Durbin’s inquiry but offered no further comment, while the FBI has not responded. Durbin requested answers by Aug. 1.
