Jamie Raskin asks Jim Jordan to hold judiciary hearing on Epstein files https://t.co/0W10bWEUrF
House Judiciary Committee Democrats led by Ranking Member Jamie Raskin sent a letter on 15 July urging Chairman Jim Jordan to convene a bipartisan public hearing on the Trump administration’s handling of the so-called Jeffrey Epstein files. The lawmakers said Jordan should invite—and, if needed, subpoena—Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino to testify. The request follows a two-page memorandum released by the Justice Department and FBI on 7 July that concluded there is no evidence Epstein kept a client list, blackmailed prominent figures or was murdered, and that no further disclosures were warranted. Democrats contend the statement contradicted earlier promises by President Donald Trump and his aides to release the full files, fueling public distrust and conspiracy theories. Raskin and his colleagues argue that sworn testimony from senior law-enforcement officials is necessary to clarify why the administration reversed course and whether any information is being withheld for political reasons. Judiciary Republicans have yet to schedule a hearing or call administration witnesses on the matter.
