A bipartisan coalition in the U.S. House is advancing the Epstein Files Transparency Act, a discharge petition filed by Republican Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Democrat Ro Khanna of California that would compel the Department of Justice to release every unclassified record tied to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. By late 16 July, at least six Republicans—Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Jeff Van Drew, Eric Burlison, Tim Burchett and Eli Crane—had joined the petition. With all Democrats expected to sign, supporters say they have or are close to the 218 signatures required to force a floor vote, bypassing House leadership. The legislation directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to publish, within 30 days of enactment, all unclassified documents, communications, flight logs and other investigative materials related to Epstein and his associates in a searchable, downloadable format. The measure bars withholding or redacting information merely because it could cause reputational harm or political embarrassment. The push for transparency comes despite public objections from former President Donald Trump, who urged Republicans to abandon the effort. Backers argue releasing the files is necessary to provide accountability for Epstein’s victims and to restore public trust.

There are too many questions and not enough answers about the Epstein files. I agree that it’s time to release them, which is why I put my name on a resolution to force their release and give the American people the transparency they deserve.
