President Donald Trump on Saturday used his Truth Social platform to accuse Representative Nancy Pelosi and her husband, Paul, of insider trading, saying the couple “beat all of the super geniuses on Wall Street” in 2024 and labeling the congresswoman a “disgusting degenerate.” Trump questioned why no inquiry had been opened and said the Pelosis’ stock-market gains were the result of “inside information.” The accusations add new heat to long-running criticism of the Pelosis’ portfolio. Financial disclosures show the couple is worth roughly $260 million, and a popular online tracker of the speaker’s trades has fueled public scrutiny. Pelosi last week dismissed the insider-trading claims as “ridiculous” in a CNN interview and noted her recent support for legislation to bar senior officials from trading individual stocks. Trump’s comments quickly drew backing from other Republicans. Federal Housing Director Bill Pulte urged regulators to launch a formal investigation, while Senator Josh Hawley renewed his call for Pelosi to be prosecuted. Hawley is sponsoring the HONEST Act, formerly dubbed the PELOSI Act, which would prohibit members of Congress, the president and the vice president from trading stocks. As of Sunday, no federal agency had announced an inquiry into the matter. Pelosi has not publicly responded to Trump’s latest remarks beyond her earlier denial of wrongdoing.
