On April 10 and 11, 2025, U.S. lawmakers and officials expressed strong opposition to the influence of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on American markets and military operations. Senator Rick Scott unveiled a legislative package aimed at curbing CCP exploitation of U.S. markets to safeguard investors and national security. He emphasized the need for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to delist Chinese companies that do not comply with U.S. laws. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo supported this stance, framing the situation as a conflict between the CCP and global free people. Additionally, Senator Ted Budd highlighted the necessity of preventing adversarial nations from operating businesses on U.S. military bases, collaborating with Representatives Pat Harrigan and others on this initiative. The committee on the Chinese Communist Party commended President Trump and the White House for their actions on tariffs against China, while also calling for broader measures to address the perceived threats from the CCP. Representative Carlos echoed these sentiments, declaring the CCP as the U.S.'s greatest adversary and advocating for complete decoupling from China. Representative Harrigan criticized the CCP's involvement in military supply chains, particularly after their acquisition of GNC, and pledged to end their oversight-free operations on military bases. Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders also announced a legislative package to prohibit CCP land purchases near critical infrastructure, aligning with Senator Tom Cotton's efforts.
China is America’s greatest adversary. I announced my Communist China Defense legislative package to ban them from buying land around our critical infrastructure like our military bases. Arkansas stands with @SenTomCotton. https://t.co/YcGvef8G0u
For too long, Communist China has flooded U.S. markets with goods created from stolen American IP—hurting American workers. @SenRickScott and Senate Republicans are fighting back against Communist China’s market manipulation. https://t.co/Kt7mb0coUN
I joined @_brittanylewis at @Forbes to talk about my bill to kick the Chinese Communist Party off our military bases. After quietly taking over GNC through a bankruptcy deal, they’ve kept selling to our troops with zero oversight. It’s outrageous, and I’m putting a stop to it! https://t.co/TXxdcabRGV
